Terms of service

Last updated 13 October 2026

These terms apply to your use of Finance Ascent at financeascent.app (the "Service"). The Service is run by Venderbos Ventures, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 42188185, based in the Netherlands ("we", "us"). By creating an account or buying a plan you agree to these terms.

1. What Finance Ascent is

Finance Ascent is an educational simulation game about how finance careers and private capital work. Everything in it is fictional:

  • No real money is invested, traded, lent or held. Scores, funds and portfolios exist only inside the game.
  • Nothing in the Service is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and no game outcome says anything about how real markets or real investments will behave.
  • We don't offer brokerage, trading, payments between users or any other financial service.

2. Your account

  • You need to be at least 16 to create an account, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
  • Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and use one account per person.
  • Your display name, scores and any public player page can be seen by others on leaderboards and in societies. Don't use your real name there if you'd rather not.
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account.

3. Acceptable use

When you use the Service, don't:

  • cheat, exploit bugs, or script or automate play to manipulate scores or leaderboards;
  • scrape the Service, overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities, or try to get around access limits or paywalls;
  • use offensive, hateful or misleading display names, society names or messages, or harass other players;
  • impersonate someone else, or share, sell or resell access to your account or paid features;
  • use the Service for anything unlawful.

If you report a bug instead of exploiting it, we're grateful. We may remove content, reset scores, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why first.

4. Plans and payments

The free plan costs nothing. Pro is billed monthly or yearly, and Cohort is billed monthly per seat. Current prices are on the pricing page, and the price you pay is the one shown at checkout, including any VAT.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy, you also accept Paddle's buyer terms. Paddle handles your payment details; we never see your card number.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time using the link in your Paddle receipt email, or by emailing us. You keep paid features until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • If we change a price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal.
  • On Cohort plans, the person who buys the seats is responsible for who gets them, and each member still agrees to these terms.

5. Refunds

You can get a full refund within 14 days of any payment, renewals included. The details are in our refund policy.

6. Content and feedback

The game, its scenarios, text, art and code belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own learning, and you may share screenshots and share cards from your runs.

Things you add, like display names, society names and feedback, stay yours. You give us permission to show them in the Service. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

7. Changes and availability

We keep working on the game, so features, scenarios and game balance will change. We may occasionally reset leaderboards or seasons. We aim to keep the Service running, but it's provided "as is" and we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.

8. Liability

Because the Service is a learning game, we're not liable for decisions you make in real life based on it. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. None of this limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Ending your account

You can stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account and its data, email support@financeascent.app. Cancel any subscription first so it doesn't renew. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we'll let you know by email or in the Service at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Dutch law, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your own country.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms: support@financeascent.app. For questions about a payment, you can also contact Paddle through the link in your receipt or at paddle.net.
